Why we need to keep fighting for a Noosa Council

The Noosa of today owes much of its character to 50 years of community activism.

Unlike most comparable communities, both individuals and community organizations have been motivated to make a difference in the way that their community developed.

That’s why the Noosa area now has world class National Parks and a casual character devoid of most of the symbols of cities like parking meters, traffic lights and high rise buildings.

The story so far …

In 2008 Noosa’s council was forcibly amalgamated with Maroochy and Caloundra Councils to form the Sunshine Coast Regional Council. This was in the face of a massive and enduring local protest.

The resulting “super council” lived up to Noosa people’s worst fear with rocketing rates and declining services.
